Researchers have long known that animals’ sexual activity is affected by their body odor.
Now they’re finding out that odor plays a role in human sexual relations as well. A new report shows that women can subconsciously tell the difference between men’s sexual sweat and neutral sweat. Boston Medical Group has no comment as of yet, but remains interested in the subject.
Even if she doesn’t realize it, she knows that men’s sweat smells different when he is aroused, according to a report published in the January issue of The Journal of Neuroscience.
The report reveals that women process the odors of men’s sweat in different parts of the brain, according to The New York Times.
In the study, heterosexual women smelled absorbent pads moistened with the sweat of aroused male volunteers, some moistened with a hormone believed to be a sex pheromone and some moistened with a neutral sweat odor. At the same time, their brains were monitored with magnetic resonance imaging.
Researchers concluded that humans communicate with smell, because of their ability to recognize information contained in sexual sweat.

It’s no secret that maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help keep up your sexual performance. Exercise helps. But so does eating a variety of healthy foods.
Dial down the fatty, artery-clogging food and fill up on the stuff that’s good for you: fruits, vegetables, lean proteins and whole grains.
More specifically, Best Life has come up with a roster of foods that help boost a healthy blood flow – one of the keys for sexual function.
* Pomegranate juice: The Journal of Urology finds it cut the risk of erectile dysfunction in rabbits.
* Shrimp salad: The zinc in the shrimp and the folate in leafy greens can boost sperm levels.
* Oatmeal: Helps release testosterone into the blood supply, which can increase your sex drive and orgasm strength.
* Citrus fruits: Vitamin C keeps sperm from clumping, and men who have at least 2,000 milligrams a day improve their sperm counts and motility.

What may seem like an easy, one-stop solution for PE often is not.
After all, the ultimate goal in treating PE is to satisfy both the patient and his partner and to have ongoing, lasting results.
Viagra® and similar products are known for shortening the refractory period – meaning you can resume sexual activity without a long down time. But this benefit has no impact on the ejaculation time.
And conventional therapy, including the use of “Start and Stop” technique and anti-depressants, has limited, short-term effect. Anesthetic creams rarely, if ever, work. They numb the head of the penis as well as the partner’s vagina, reducing pleasure for both partners. Plus, as they numb, you never actually “get used” to the sensation of making love for longer periods of time, and the problem returns as soon as you stop using them..
Any of those techniques may trigger some improvement in the short term, but the effects are limited. Recent studies have shown that the majority of patients showed no sign of lasting improvement.*
Successful treatment of PE requires a comprehensive strategy that no single product can provide. At Boston Medical Group, the treatment of PE involves a stepwise approach. The underlying cause of Premature Ejaculation must be properly diagnosed before a specific treatment program can be recommended.
Effective treatment will allow you to progressively overcome both the sensitivity issue and the performance anxiety often associated with PE. Following the treatment program, you are then able to control your ejaculation on your own, without the need for further treatment.
A combination of counseling, behavioral changes and medications is usually the most effective treatment program.

Did you know that there are medical tests that generally can pinpoint why you are having a problem climaxing?
Tests can help determine what’s at the root of your trouble, whether it’s biological or psychological. There is a wide range of possible causes.
One explanation may be a prostate problem, like an infection or surgery that is affecting your pelvic organs.
Tests may also uncover a condition called hypogonadism, in which the testicles don’t produce enough hormone. The same condition occurs in women, when their ovaries don’t make enough eggs. It’s most often treated by replacing the appropriate hormones. For men, that would be testosterone.
Another cause of the problem might be hypothyroidism, in which the thyroid gland doesn’t produce enough hormone.
In all of these cases, there are other symptoms that can tip doctors off to what your underlying trouble is.

An increasing number of men are turning to sexual rehabilitation, and many of them are coming out of it with improved sexual performance. Men who have suffered from a trauma are especially in luck as positive results of sexual rehab continue to surface year after year.
Some of the first studies on sex rehab began in the mid ’60’s but it wasn’t until fairly recently did doctors begin to recognize the benefits of even discussing sexual performance as an effect of physical and mental trauma.
A study done in 1964 by Tuttle, Cook, and Fitch found that two-thirds of the 20 patients in their study, who were recovering from myocardial infarction (occlusion of the heart), received no advice about sexual activity from their doctor. “One-third received vague and nonspecific advice.”
“The most overpowering argument for providing sexual rehabilitation is that, without it, overall recovery may be delayed or extinguished.” (Frankel, 1967)
Sexual Rehabilitation can help with stress caused by the diagnosis of a disease as well as help cope with the struggle to regain one’s sexual function. Boston Medical Group often takes this approach into account when developing treatment strategies.

Male circumcision is widely known to decrease the chance of contracting HIV, reduce instances of urinary tract infections as well as prevent penile cancer and many children are circumcised at birth. However, males undergoing the process of circumcision in adulthood often wonder how it will affect them as adults.
A recent article in Medical News Today notes a November article in the Journal of Sexual Medicine that found adult male circumcision to have no affect on sexual performance. A study of 2,684 Kenyan men resulted in 99 percent of men satisfied with their circumcision, and the majority of men reported both greater penile sensitivity, and easier use of condoms.”
The study also noted higher rates of sexual satisfaction over time.
“This topic has been highly controversial.” said Goldstein, M.D., Editor-in-Chief of The Journal of Sexual Medicine. “I am pleased to be able to publish irrefutable evidence that circumcision does not have negative side effects regarding sexual health; rather it is quite the opposite.”

It was once thought that erectile dysfunction was purely a psychological problem in the realm of men’s sexual health. However, as technology advances, experts are finding scientific evidence that suggests erectile dysfunction is also biologically-based.
It is not uncommon for men to ejaculate sooner than they or their partner would like, although if the problem persists and begins to increase in frequency, it is possible that erectile dysfunction is occurring.
What to look for:
- Premature ejaculation occurs in a majority of your sexual encounters
- It causes stress or unusual concern
- Your sex-life was fine and now it is not
- You ejaculate before or shortly after intercourse begins
- You have difficulty maintaining an erection
Psychological causes include but are not limited to:
- Being in a situation where you are hurrying
- Feelings of guilt that drive the need to rush during intercourse
While erectile dysfunction is sometimes caused by psychological distress, studies show that there are a number of biological components.
- Low hormone levels
- Abnormal levels of neurotransmitters
- Inflammation of the prostate or urethra
- Thyroid issues
- Nervous system problem caused by trauma or surgery.
- Narcotic withdrawal and certain Anti-Anxiety medications.

There are three types of Premature Ejaculation, two of which are Primary and Secondary Premature Ejaculation. Primary is when ejaculation occurs too soon, while Secondary premature ejaculation is caused by the weakening of an erection. The following case studies were done on one patient with each of the previously mentioned dysfunctions.
David, a 24 year old with primary premature ejaculation experienced a lot of tension within his relationship and while using alternatives such as numbing creams and rubber rings helped temporarily, David wanted to think about the long-term with his girlfriend.
After having a biothesiometry test done, it was found that David has an over-sensitive penile head. This was causing his premature ejaculation. Boston Medical Group was able to offer a treatment that would prolong David’s erection even after ejaculation. He eventually got used to the sensation of having sex and was able to regain control of his erections.
Eric, 35, has a different story. Eric has been married for thirty years and within the last two years has lost control of his ejaculations. Eric was in great health aside from slightly higher blood pressure. His doctor prescribed medication to control his blood pressure. Boston Medical Group conducted a test called an eco-Doppler test, which measures the amount of blood flow through the penis (completely noninvasive and measures bloodflow using sounds waves!) It was found that because Eric was constantly concerned with maintaining an erection, he was actually causing it to weaken. To solve this problem, Boston Medical Group prescribed vasodialators to use ten minutes before sexual intercourse. As soon as both his confidence and erection improved he was able to control his erections without the vasodialators.
Every patient has a different story with unique qualities and should therefore have a personalized treatment. Boston Medical Group offers personalized treatments and it’s as simple as finding a clinic in your area. For more information check out Boston Medical Group’s website.
